Dagger Tuft-moth

Nola vernalis

Description:

A pale moth with wing span of about 20 mm. Wings depressed with brown markings and raised knob-like scales along the veins. Mouth parts protruded into a snout. antennae were held under wings.

Habitat:

Spotted near sports field with native trees.

Notes:

The moth was absolutely flat, very pale and small. It resembled a thin piece of bark. I could not clear the cobwebs from around the moth for fear of disturbing and losing it ! http://morwellnp.pangaean.net/cgi-bin/sh... Family: Nolidae Subfamily: Nolinae
