Jungle Flame, Jungle Geranium, Flame of the Woods (fruit)

Ixora coccinea

Description:

Edible fruit of Ixora coccinea (locally called Santan) plant. The fruits which are about 10mm in diameter are used as a dietary source when fully ripe.

Habitat:

Urban garden.

Notes:

After reading from two internet sites that the fruit is edible, I tasted it. It is quite bland, similar to plum in consistency with a single seed inside the fruit.
