Garden Jumping Spider

About 10mm head and body. Longish, ovoid, pendulous abdomen, compact round head. Orange to red brown markings on warm, grey. Extra fluffy palpi. Short legs kept tucked in unless on the move. Very responsive to movement.

Found amongst the rocket in sunny vegetable patch near house.

Possible species:Opisthoncus parcedentatus starts off light in colour then darkens with age. Given the size of this specimen it could be a young animal and also possibly a male. Most likely a Opisthoncus... Also: really cute!
