Desert Firetail (male)

Telebasis salva

Description:

Very small Damselfly, with red eyes, thorax and abdomen. Wings fold against the body. Easily overlook from it's 1" size. I wouldn't see it if it weren't for the striking red color.

Habitat:

Prefers reed lined ponds and streams. I spotted this hanging out on grapevines draping over a bridge.

Are you sure? These are very tiny, smaller then Vivid Dancers. This one I spotted in Tilden and spotted another at Del Valle in Livermore. I never seen them before either but can be easily missed.

We do not have these species on this side. We have skimmers, darners and the Blue colored Damsel flies ,mostly.
