It would be good to know what we are seeing here. Size? Upper and lower surfaces? Any pores showing? Furry or smooth? I suspect the piece of timber has been raised onto one end for these shots and therefore up and down is not as it appears. Some description might help if you want an ID.

Excellent. That ridged or grooved surface is unusual. If you say like cork they might be drying and smaller than before.
