Asian Water Buffalo

Bubalus bubalis

Description:

This appears to be a River Water Buffalo from what I have read. But I am not certain, according to statistics on India there are approximately 58 Cor or Million. But this group appears to be a small feral herd. One had a very unusual set of horns. Look at last picture in the set.

Habitat:

This particular group lives in Palllikaranai Wetlands in South Chennai Tamil Nadu India. It was about 31C and 76% Humidity and they had the good sense to go for a wade in the cool water unlike the photographer. :)

Notes:

But I did get a Baskin Robbins cone on the walk home. :)
