Wild Columbine

(Aquilegia canadensis)

Description:

This is one of my favorite wildflower species in Michigan. Wild Columbine can be found in deciduous woods, mixed forests, near streams, rivers, creeks, ponds, lakes, and sometimes even swamps. It doesn't require a lot of sunlight and actually prefers that it doesn't. The place that I had found this flower is a good spot for them, and their numbers keep multiplying rapidly every year. Last year I found one Wild Columbine plant and this year I have found over twenty.
