Rough Earth Snake

Virginia striatula

Description:

My first Snake Count submission! A cute little rough earth snake. This one was very squirmy, so I didn't get any good close-ups.

Habitat:

A trash pile in a field in the city. Many snakes have been found here before.

Thank you! I almost missed it when I flipped the board. It blended in well with the ground!

wow! what a tiny snake! great capture -- both photographically and physically (must be hard to spot a tiny, squirmy snake like that!)

I know! This may have been a juvenile; this species probably could get a tiny bit bigger.
