Woolly alder aphids bunched together on an alder branch. their abdomens are covered in a white wax they secret to protect themselves from predators.

Habitat:

In our swamp on a tag alder tree.

I don't know if anybody would notice but you can actually see one crawling around on the others. wish it was a higher quality photo so you could see it better.
