Monarch Caterpillars.

Danaus plexippus

Description:

Several yellow, black, and white striped monarch caterpillars. One caterpillar turned into a bright green chrysalis with metallic gold markings.

Habitat:

Butterfly & Common Milkweed.

Notes:

This classroom has around 15 locally caught Monarch Caterpillars. As you can see, one of the caterpillars turned into a chrysalis today. This teacher will tag and then release each butterfly once it emerges.
