Black Bear

Ursus americanus

Notes:

We were told that there was an angry mother bear with cubs just down the trail and that the mother had charged some hikers. Regardless we decided to continue and see for ourselves what lay around the next bend. Sure enough there was a mommy bear with three little cubs playing in the middle of the trail. We made noise and let her know we were there but she didn't seem to care. We did not approach her any closer but just stood there and enjoyed watching the cubs play with each other. Photos taken with a 300 mm lens.
