Hen of the Woods

Meripilus giganteus

Notes:

This thing was awesome! My grandmother's neighbor found it mowing. It started turning black after the grass around it was cut down. Very sturdy, about 5 or 6 inches in height. The layers are almost feathered in appearance. Any idea what it is called?

It's a young Hen of the Woods (Meripilus giganteus) or a Maitake (Grifola Frondosa)
