Crocothemis erythraea
This is rather small dragonfly, less than 5cm in length. Body is bright red, with distinctive amber patches at the base of wings.
Found in a mixture of habitats just between the edge of the forest and a sandy beach, with few stagnant water bodies scattered around. Scarlet dragonfly is reported as common within it's range, it's range being throughout Palearctic.
