Philippine Mantis Shrimp crawling around on the shallow reef near the entrance to Pearl Harbor (Mamala Bay), Oahu, Hawaii.

Notes:

When I first saw this guy I though he was a severed lobster tail.. but after he crawled in and back out from his hole I realized he was some type of living organism....

I was wandering if that may be it, but it seems to lack the front appendages that are on the Mantis Shrimp. It looks very much like the last picture on the link I provided as a reference, but not what that is...
