Gracupica contra
Bird with bold and attractive colouration: white, black and orange. The orange is around the eyes which make it stand out. Base of the beak has a touch of orange too. the front is largely white.
Urban residential area. My terrace where it comes to feed a bit and drink water. A resident and quite common.

Thanks Tukup, that's a nice thought but you know just those few species are regular visitors...nothing new...but then who knows maybe a vagrant visitor may arrive...finger's crossed. I shall be extra vigilant.
Oh! These are extremely vocal, Neil.Very loud indeed. Proper conversations...if only I could understand avian :)
Great!! I am happy for you Sukanya. I would also think your terrace would qualify as a "back yard" for this year's mission: Back Yard Habitats of the World. Thanks so much for sharing the good news.
Lovely spotting, Sukanya. Are these as raucous as their noisy myna cousins? They're the only ones I see in Oz. They are so comical.
Oh Tukup...seems like I have seen a Great Myna, after all..just misidentified it. Thanks so much.
Great Myna or white-vented myna. Here it is:

You are correct Tukup. I have not seen a Great Myna...perhaps some day...Hope travel restrictions are eased as the world heals (or internalizes the virus) I really am feeling very, very cooped up. There is this moth paradise I want to visit again..lots of birds here as well.
Your Myna pictures are great Sukanya. Thanks. It looks like you only lack the Great Myna to complete your Grand Slam of Mynas of India. I see 6 listed, not counting the Brahminy Starling/Myna, which you also have. http://www.walkthroughindia.com/birds/12...
