Green Stink Bug

Chinavia hilarious

Description:

This is a large shield-shaped bug with an elongate oval form about 15 mm. The green stink bug is bright green with narrow yellow and orange edges. Adults have large stink glands, located on the underside of the thorax, and discharge foul-smelling liquid when disturbed.

Habitat:

Spotted near the Tamarac Visitor Center. This insect feeds with their needle-like mouthparts on the juices of a wide variety of plants from May until frost.

This bug is also called the Green Soldier Bug
