Clearly a tortoise beetle but I can not find a species. It is very distinctive with the red markings but a search of tortoise beetles has not found any similar ones. The photo describes it better than any words.
Forest area at around 1250 m in northern Peru.

Certainly nearer than anything I found.
I never know how much variety a species might have.
