Description:

Small sandpiper, long bill slightly drooping at the end.

Habitat:

Mudflats on a river mouth, near the ocean.

Notes:

A "very rare" bird for my country, according to the Stiles and Skutch "Birds of Costa Rica. Had never seen it before. Was feeding at a mudflat close to a Least Sandpiper and four Semipalmated Plovers.
