Noctuid Moth

Leucania sp

Description:

With a wingspan of about 25 mm, this beautiful pale yellow moth rested mostly with wings held parallel to the ground. Thorax was covered with dense "fur" ad appeard smooth. Fore wings showed small black spots along the inner border of the submarginal area and small black flecks on the discal and postdiscal areas. Hind wings appeared paler with fringed trailing margins. The submarginal area was a dark grey.Undersides of both wings appeared to have black marginal patches. Antennae were orangish-brown. Legs were cream with tufts of setae. .

Habitat:

Spotted under bright lights near eucalyptus forest and other native trees.
