Gall wasp

Terobiella sp

Description:

A small gall wasp grown from a colorful group of galls found about two weeks ago in Mornington. Here are some better photographs, as promised. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/380...

Notes:

The complex antennae appear to indicate male specimen. I would expect a few more to emerge shortly for a possible gender comparison. Superfamily = Chalcidoidae Family = Pteromalidae Subfamily = Ormocerinae Genus = Terobiella Thanks to John La Salle and Dr Chris Burwell

Yep - definitely a male. Males often emerge a bit before the females. They like to be waiting around for the females to emerge.
This is Pteromalidae, Ormocerinae, tribe Melanosomellini
