Large Milkweed Bug

Oncopeltus fasciatus

Description:

These little guys only grow to about 18mm. They migrate over the winter, and cold weather will kill them.

Habitat:

Fields and meadows containing milkweed or dogbane

Notes:

Despite the fact that these bugs are common, I had never seen one before taking this picture.
