Green Caterpillar with yellow and brown spots. At the rump of the caterpillar there are two appendages that stick out. A small eye spot is on each side near the appendages, giving the caterpillar a snake-like appearance.
Looking under rocks for snakes, I lift one up and find this beauty.

That looks like it a lot! You can kind of see his head in the first picture.
I do not, he never come out of the 'roll'.

Possibly a Mottled Prominent caterpillar - Macrurocampa marthesia
