Ant Alate

Description:

An alate of a forest ant species. It was an alate season today so they emerged and flew out in abundance. Black colored and long. 11.5 mm in length from forehead to wingtip. Alate are the winged form of an ant, born to fly out from the nest to mate and start a new ant colony.

Habitat:

Found on the hostel wall of Bombalai Jungle Lodge, Tawau Hills Park, Sabah.

Notes:

>>>Map accuracy: 10m diameter. I woke up early for moth spotting. Many nocturnal insects from last night are still left behind.
