Two-toed Sloth (Juvenile)

Choloepus didactylus

Description:

In the finca I stayed in near La Cruz, this baby sloth fell from a tree and was rejected by the mother. The family adopted it and fed it with Goat's milk from a baby's bottle, 3 times a day. It was thriving, and when this photo was taken, it was 6 months old.

Wow thanks bayucca... must have missed this post. Wonderful photos! Seems the hair on the 2-toed sloth is not so curly, but still so soft.

Abandoned sloth kid, fallen from a tree. Mothers do usually not rescue them, too dangerous for themselves! This kid was afterwards brought to a sloth sanctury, where they nurse them with very good chances for survival and re-integretion into the wilderness.

Maria, you can't imaging how beautiful it was! Cuddling it and feeding made the heart happy... And the hair was still soft and silky.

Yes Gilma, it is my favourite also. Pity the exposure was so dark. I had to lighten it a lot and thought it unsuitable for the front photo.
