Sycamore Tussock Moth Caterpillar

Description:

This little caterpillar is covered in white hair with four, distinct orange tufts as well as four white tufts around its head. On its back end there are two more white tufts. (urbanwildlifeguide.net)

Habitat:

Found in the South-east of Canada down through the east coast of the U.S. stopping before Florida. (wiki) the larvae of this species feeds on American Sycamore trees and and overpopulation of the larvae can be damaging.
