Callicore lyca
a type of '88' butterfly
tropical rainforest
I spotted this in Rio Claro reserve.
Oh me too Marta! There are so many!
I am amazed with the great diversity of butterflies in Central and South America :-)
Yay! I was right on my guess. I'm happy with getting it just to the species level. Thanks bayucca and Marta.
Callicore lyca is correct, but I would not dare to get closer than that. There are some more similar subspecies only from Colombia.http://www.butterfliesofamerica.com/L/t/...The more reddish ones:http://www.butterfliesofamerica.com/L/ih...http://www.butterfliesofamerica.com/L/ih...
