Common Black Ground Beetle

Pterostichus melanarius

Description:

Black Beetle with large pincers. This particular one was a little over one inch long.

Habitat:

They are usually found under old logs, leaves, or rocks. This one was observed on one of the log sections I use for splitting wood in an area behind my house.
