The male has a glossy green head and white collar which separates the head from the purple-tinged brown breast, grey-brown wings, and a pale grey belly. These species can grow up to the length of 1'81"-2'2".they're wingspan can be up to 2'8"-3'3". They weigh 1.54 pounds-3.53 pounds. Mallards are targeted by brood parasites, occasionally having eggs laid in their nest by redheads, ruddy duck, lesser scaups, gadwalls, northern shovelers, northern pintails, cinnamon teal, common goldeneyes, and other mallards. These species use sexual reproduction. This duck floats on the water and dives when it finds food.
Mallard ducks inhabit wetlands, marshes, ponds, lakes, rivers and flooded areas.
