Xylocopa caffra
Xylocopa caffra is a species of Afrotropical carpenter bee that ranges from west to central and southern Africa. They are large, with a body length of 20-24mm. The females are black and hairy with 2 bands of yellow hairs, and the males are entirely covered with yellow hairs.
We have a lot of bugs and birds in the garden, and these lovely little things always hang around for a while when the flowers are out.
