Scarlet-chested Sunbird

Chalcomitra senegalensis

Description:

Presented here is the male - mainly brown in appearance. It's spectacular scarlet chest reveals when you see it in the right light. The male bird also sports an iridescent dark-green-almost-blue face and throat - that moment is spectacular, those colours are unforgettable... And sorry, but here I missed that one...

Habitat:

Urban - outskirts of Windhoek, still very close to the city-centre.

Notes:

The very first (successful) series of shots in Windhoek; in the backyard of our office. Not a lifer, but a great start of Namibia series...
