Squash Lady Beetle

Epilachna borealis

Description:

Large Lady Beetle with orange coloration. Elytron with seven black spots each. Protonum usually with four black spots. Feeds on cucurbits (squash, cucumber, etc.). Not an insect eater! Picture 5 shows common feeding habit and the damage done to the leaf.

Habitat:

Suburban garden, feeding on the Zucchini plants.

Notes:

One of the largest Lady Beetles I have ever seen.
