Nephilengys cruentata
The body alone is probably about 4-5 cm. The base of the net was attatched to a tree stem, where the spider also had a cone shaped "base". Females reach a length of about 24 mm. The legs can be uniformly dark red or brown, or annulated. Males are about 4 mm long

Well, I did not have to srawl into a chicken house. However, your spider is the exotic foreigner!!!! That is more cool!
I'm jealous that your spider is more beautiful. sat facing , as the spider king, on the throne
I wish :) But I am not good at at all when it comes to reptiles and amphibians. I am still learning a lot. But Perhaps Fanie or AshleyT can support you... Give them a poke! Best of luck :)
INteresting Fanie! I fount this information "Associated with crevices in or under rocks or tree bark in savanna, parks, and gardens. They build a silken tube with a widened entrance; the tube of an adult female under bark can be up to 1 m long" and that seems to fit to my spotting. I have to investigate a bit more to find out if other larges spiders build the same kind of tube. (Fonund the information here http://species-id.net/wiki/Gandanameno)
Maybe velvet spider (Gandanameno sp). http://www.biodiversityexplorer.org/arac...
Hahaha, no no this time the comment didn't have a second meaning...I don't know which one is better but that one is really nice and scary with the web :)
I trust your eyes more than mine when it comes to choosing pictures, point taken ;) Thanks my friend!
