Habitat:

Sinharaja Forest Reserve is one of the last primary rainforests in Sri Lanka and is a biodiversity hotspot, it was established as a World Biosphere Reserve in 1978, and a World Heritage site in 1988 by UNESCO. More than 60% of the trees are endemic, it's also home to 50% of Sri Lanka's endemic species of animals and 95% of the endemic birds of the country. Surrounded in dense fog, the dangerous, dark and mysterious Sinharaja forest is steeped in deep legend and mystery. The word Sinharaja means lion- (සිංහ/சிங்கம் sinha) king or kingdom (රාජ/ராஜா raja), and a popular folk legend has it that a legendary lion lived in this protected forest. 60% of the forest is contained within the border of Rathnapura District, 20% in the Galle District, and 20% in Kaluthara District. The forest is likely to have formed during the Jurassic era and spans over an area of 360 km², it is the most dense rainforest in Asia with 240,000 plants per hectare. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sinharaja_...

I'm not sure what to say lol. I mean you're obviously much older than me so you have more experience that will give you better advice than any I could offer. Anyway, I'd still like to wish you good luck, what you're doing is the correct thing nevertheless what people talk about and think. People are gonna talk no matter what we do so we just have to ignore them and do the right thing. Hope your Barn Sparrow gets well soon :D
Thank you and wish you the same :)

I don't have a good time here, in nature, yes! But I need wifi to document my spottings and there are too many fools everywhere that think they are experts. I spent about 1 year in nature the last 3 years I have been traveling through 7 countries, and still, people think they know everything more than me, it's ridiculous. And I'm so tired of having to rely on people. Now I'm taking care of a Barn Swallow(Hirundo rustica) and people are making fun of me because I smack flies all day just to try to keep it alive until it heals, I counted all the flies three days ago and it ate 340 flies that day only, and it was still hungry when I came back to camp. Yes I live outdoors in Greece, and have been the last two months. That is 4 months in total, two just for fun though :)

I will not get started on those politicians cuz if I do I might not stop and it is not polite to curse on a platform like this. I too plan to leave the country after ALs are over. Hopefully, I'll be able to get a scholarship from a good foreign uni... There's no future for us in this country. Cuz no matter how much we sweat and bleed to develop the country, they won't do any good until this corrupted system rules. All they want to do is to fill their pockets, the country can be damned.
Hope you're having a good time over there. I will, thank you! Anytime:)

Yes, I was stuck in Sri Lanka for a year when the "pandemic" hit the world and I hated the political restrictions in Sri Lanka, it was about the most stupid things I have seen. I left and won't come back until everything about corona and the politicians that started the crisis is gone. This is the worst political scandal since Stalin if you ask me, and I am talking about the whole world politics. They have become insane, and they are not stopping. One thing you should not trust is China and all chinese in Sri Lanka, they are a wolves in sheep clothing. Currently I'm in Greece, and documenting another national park, I won't say where because I hate revealing my location until I have left, because everything and everyone is spied upon today, thanks to politicians and tech companies. The whole world of political leaders should have been in jail for what they have done the last three years, but we see nothing. Just be careful, Rithmini. And thank you for the info :)

ps:- Food prices have gone impossibly high. We are still managing, but it's become harder and harder for many commoners to even afford their daily meals. There seems to be no end to this crisis...

It is quite bad already and is only getting worse... They say there won't be petrol till 10th July, but the lines have built up many days before. I'm not very sure about what plans the president have as I don't watch the news much these days. But whatever plans he has, they obviously won't solve this problem. There are small groups of people on protests at the sides of many main roads.
I'm still a student so I can't give you many details. My parents don't let me watch the news much. And there's nothing positive to be said. Hope this helped you in some way :)
Btw, are you abroad?
