Carolina wild petunia

Ruellia caroliniensis

Description:

This flower grows all over my yard as a weed, mostly in partially shady spots near the house, though that may be just where the lawnmower can't reach them. The flowers bloom and wilt very quickly in the morning. These pictures were taken around 11am and the day's blooms were already starting to droop. They grow about 15 inches tall. I don't know how they propagate, but they do it very well!
