Tephrosia spicata (bean family)
From the "Field Guide to the Wildflowers of Georgia and the Surrounding States" - found in dry and moist woodlands and clearings. Flower clusters are erect with 2-20 flowers. Flowers are 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch long. They are white when they first bloom, and turn maroon as they age. Flowering time is June through August. Note some of the flowers in this specimen are white, while two have turned maroon/pink with age.
