These are red long skinny creatures with at least a thousand legs and they are fast. We find them under the leaves in the play yard.

Red and fast moving is more like a type of centipede! Millipedes tend to be slower and when they feel threatened they curl up into a ball.
Sounds like a millipede but it is hard to know because of the picture quality.. : (
