Eastern grey kangaroo (♀)

Macropus giganteus

Description:

A sweet young female Eastern Grey probably about 2-3 years old. Strangely not with a mob nearby.

Habitat:

In open dry sclerophyll eucalyptus forest - part of a newly defined national park.

Notes:

This one was within 50 metres of the Swamp Wallaby posted previously so they musts be compatible within in their range. The Greys feed mostly on grasses but will eat a range of plants and sometimes fungi. Usually a mob is about 10 or so animals but in the evenings larger ‘mobs’ of 50 or so gather to feed.
Family: Macropodidae
Genus: Macropus

I think her mum, aunts and siblings were just behind some nearby trees. She was probably being a bit adventurous.

She's lovely. Looks very sad though. Is it normal for such a young animal to be alone?
