Emerging Wood Ear

Auricularia cornea

Description:

Looking like scattered popcorn, these small bell-shaped structures were seen on burnt wood. The outer surface was soft, white and furry and the inside of the bell was smooth and purplish brown. The largest of these were about 3 mm wide.

Habitat:

Seen growing on burnt surface of a eucalyptus log.
