Western Red Cedar

Description:

Western red cedar tree is the common name. Grows up to 230 feet tall. Flat yellowicsh green needles , curved branches. Branches touching and rooting into the ground. Evergreen tree with soft fibrous bark that can be pulled from trees in long strips.

Habitat:

Cedars grow in the Pacific northwest which stretches from northern California to southern Alaska and in the Olympic mountains.

Notes:

Native Americans consider the cedar to be culturally and technologically significant. Cedar is scientifically proven to clean toxins in the air, just boil a pot of water and infuse with cedar to decontaminate the air in your home:) They can live to be over 1000 years old. The oldest living cedar tree is 1460 years old.
