Description:

These odd looking things are actually a type of insect. They have a scale-like body. Often the do not have legs or antennae. They produce a white, cottony looking wax. Most of these are found on the leaves of the plant.

Habitat:

Suburban yard. Rose of Sharon ( Hibiscus sp.).
