Description:

22 species of Nuthatches. Four species breed in North America. This one is a White-breasted Nuthatch. Like the titmice, these birds are cavity nesters. Their chief peculiarity is their habit of crawling on trees head downward; they can progress in direction even creeping along branches, but they rarely come to the ground. They do like sunflower seeds.
