Philippine Whipsnake - juvenile

Dryophiops philippina

Description:

Saw this juvenile Philippine Whipsnake - Dryophiops philippina during a hot day when it suddenly started to rain. It was along a busy road and when I passed it, I thought it was just a twig, small and slender (half a meter length, body thickness less than 1 cm), looking like a twig or small branch. I had to do a double take and was pleasantly surprised that it was a Snake! Then I realised it was actually drinking the fresh water that was gathering on the leaf. Pic#3 with my left hand places on the leaf, next to the snake for size reference.

Notes:

A video of the snake sipping the rain water can be seen here : https://www.facebook.com/askkang/videos/...
