Thorn Tree Hopper

Umbonia crassicornis

Description:

The mothers protect their eggs and young even for a while after they become adults! The 2 mothers in the photos are working as a team. Both of their broods moved together as one and a mother guards each end! Very interesting to watch their behaviors! The mothers sometimes flick their wings when I approach. If I am holding the branch, I can feel their tapping on it. It is a surprisingly strong tapping they do.

Habitat:

My Tamarind tree.
