Dysdera crocata
Red cephalothorax, pale abdomen. About 2 cm long.
In in the shrubs next to a parking lot in the city, lives under stones (just like her exclusive prey, woodlice).
This spider hunts on woodlice (pissebedden). She is not very quick and has a bad sight, but has large chelicerae that can easily pierce the tough exoskeleton of woodlice. When handled, they have been reported to bite humans.
Yup!
Woodlouse Spider
Dysdera crocota
according to another nice guide for common spiders in Europe is the COLLINS GEN Spiders Photoguide, a small pocket book with great photo images.
Thanks, bayucca (again!), for the quick and accurate determination!
I didn't know this species, but it's intriguing!
