Jewel beetle

Melobasis

Description:

A metallic green beetle with ribbed elytra and fine serrations at the posterior margins. These were found hilltopping and feeding on flowers of prickly acacia. (see previous spotting).

Notes:

This specimen is slightly smaller and brighter than the previous spotting and were found together in approximately similar numbers. They may be different species of Melobasis beetles or different genders. Sexual dimorphism is unusual in Bupresstidae. http://bie.ala.org.au/species/Melobasis+...
