A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Buteo jamaicensis
I am going through Project Noah Withdrawal!!! I've been so busy lately I haven't had the chance to get out and take any quality pictures! Yesterday, I decided to take the long way home in hopes of seeing some birds. I saw this lovely light colored red-tailed hawk and surprisingly he was very cooperative! At first I though he might be partially leucistic but, that's not the case. It's possible he might be a Krider's or Krider's cross but really, I think he is just a light morph. He was a juvenile, as he had dark secondary feathers, light eyes and no red tail. I can only wonder if this is the offspring of another light colored red-tail I saw last winter with her mate! http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/169... This spotting and the other were within a quarter mile of each other.

I just love the pale Red-tails. We don't have many pale ones here though our populations do have pale bellies with very small amounts of brown speckling.
Hahaha Leuba! I love that! Although I may stray, I could never leave! :) Love this community too much!
