Brown Bear

Ursus arctos

Habitat:

Inhabits the broadest range of habitats of any living bear species. They seem to have no altitudinal preferences and have been recorded from sea level to an elevation of 5,000 m (16,000 ft) In most of their range, brown bears generally seem to prefer semi-open country.

Notes:

So lucky to have seen this bear chomping down on a Sockeye Salmon. Our tour had stopped to learn about this weir (a fence across the river with gates) where Biologist conduct annual Salmon counts (in the case of this river Sockeyed) when from the opposite bank this bear appears and traps a meal against the weir.
