Common brimstone

Gonepteryx rhamni

Description:

Gonepteryx rhamni is a quite common butterfly in the family of Pieridae. It was spotted in Tsagarada village, Pelion mountain, Greece, as it was foraging on a nepeta plant. The pictured G. rhamni is probably a male, but I was unable to snap a pic while it had its wings open! The butterfly almost dissapeared in the lush green folliage of the nepeta plant, as you can see in the last pic.
