Fun fact! As their name suggests, night herons are nocturnal hunters, using their exceptional eyesight to pinpoint their prey, which includes leeches, earthworms, insects, mollusks, crustaceans, fish, amphibians, lizards, snakes, turtles, rodents, and the eggs and chicks of other birds. They will also eat carrion, plant matter, and garbage from landfills. Hunting at night allows them to avoid competition with other heron species that use the same habitat during daylight hours. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=...
