Argynnis niobe
This beautiful fritillary with a sparse Eurasian distribution is now considered as Near Threatened in several areas by the UICN. It can be distinguished from similar species of fritilliaries by an additional white basal disk on the hindwing underside.
Meadow with rocks and gravel, alt. 2000 m. Seen feeding off a piece of decaying plant matter.
In the last 3 shots seen in the company of the Chalkhill bue, Polyommatus coridon, and Erebia sp.

Thanks dotun55! The piece of vegetation they were on was rotting and still moist, so I guess they were still able to extract minerals and amino acids from it. Some spottings should come with smells (or maybe not...)!
Nice spotting! And what could they be sipping on under the scorching hot sun?
Thanks SardarBasha!
